Sisua-palstalla oli keskustelua niistä moottoreista. Kirjoitin näin maaliskuussa 2009:

"Cummins esittelee (2009) toukokuun lopussa uudet V6 ja V8 moottorit. Koneet ovat tarkoitettu lähinnä Dodge avolavojen ja maastureitten nokalle. Uudet moottorit korvaavat osittain vanhan 5.9 litraisen suoran kuutosen.

The Engines
The new Cummins diesels are a 4.2L (256ci) V-6 and a 5.6L (342ci) V-8, both using a 90-degree V-block design with aluminum heads and an iron block. They use single overhead camshafts, a new EGR system, a single turbo, common rail fueling with piezo injectors, and a diesel particulate filter. The V-6 weighs in at 663 pounds, and the V-8 tips the scales at 788 pounds, compared to the current 5.9L inline-six engines that weigh about 1,100 pounds.

Performance
The V-6 is rated at 270 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, and the V-8 is good for around 325 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. These numbers are not set in stone and may rise by the time the engines reach production. In a performance test using a Durango fitted with the Cummins V-6, the SUV reached 60 mph in 9.6 seconds. That's faster than a Durango with the 5.9L gas engine. The 1/2-ton Ram 1500 with the Cummins V-8 hit 60 mph in just 8.8 seconds, which is approximately two-tenths of a second slower than a Ram when fitted with a Hemi 5.7L gasser.
