I bought an ’86 Sammy, my first, about a month ago. It is a great vehicle with one small problem - when it rains the passenger side floor gets flooded. Not just a little bit; after the last storm I had about 2 inches of water in the passenger foot area. The inside of the glove box got wet as well.

Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone offer a solution, or point me in the right direction?

Some specifics:

I took a look at the passenger side firewall and it appears that the water is running down it. The drains from the vent in front of the windshield appear to work (I poured a quart or so of water down them and it went out into the engine compartment). The top is fairly new, and doesn’t appear to leak. I loosened the dash and did not see any leaks around the windshield seal. Anyway there was just too much water for it to have come around the windshield seal.

I figured out where the leak was coming from. The passenger side fresh air vent drain hose was loose. (It drains the water from the vent into the engine compartment) I used a hose clamp on the offending hose and let it sit outside last night while it rained. No problem this morning.
