Quick answer, Nissan Patrol calipers was used most probably bacause this swap was done to 2 patrols. To keep vehicle legal in Finland, changed brake parts need to be at least from same weight car and braking power need to be at least same as original. it's most easiest way to use vehicle's own parts. Patrol calibers are also small enough to fit inside Nissan original 16" rim. and they are common/cheap in Finland. KZJ land cruiser discs are big, cooled and offset to inside is good to get caliber in right position.
Volvo spindle is machined to fit inside KZJ disc, diameter 173mm, two spacer rings (those ufo looking parts<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>) are fit both side of volvo spindle to fit tight to disk and bolt head.
15" rim might be difficult to get fit because tie rod end will hit it. of course rim can have more back space but it would make axle too wide to be legal (yes we have very silly laws).
Brake balance is still something what guys might need to adjust but as you can imagine, they are VERY happy for those.
I heard that they might also sell those disc brake kits. Maybe someone can confirm this rumor and possible price.

To use rover parts there is no experience. Or if someone have, they can explain it more.
