more things made, a baffle

that goes inside the petrol tank

tack weld it together

seam weld it

it needs more work but I do that later

we make the panels for the other side, eventually if there is time I make sides to this and it looks like a wierd version of a landrover farmeri (I guess I dont spell that correctly? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> )

I want the petrol tank to fit tight to the bulkhead and be protected

a little cutting and making the fuel filler fit

making the sump clear the "A" frame for the back suspension - I use "in tank" fuel pumps, maybe this is a good idea or maybe not ?!?! we find out if they like Russian petrol soon anyway

it fits much better now

Damn, it looks SO GOOD. I think, you have been welding TIG a few times before this project. Excellent!!! Perfect!!!

- its a long way from being perfect but we get a little better everytime we make a new car, thanks anyway

to save some time the wiring has already started!

Mike made the bonnet - bits from an Evo 8 and some stuff we bent up, it only weighs a couple of Kg's

we will cut the vents in later

Its been a busy weekend, many things got done

maybe this is good for 5 or 10km/h in the swamp??

I make some plates

and some little bosses and weld them on

we make the front axle mounts

and the bulkhead for the cab (its not finished yet)

battery box... I will cut this and make it a little bit different, I think its a little bit too low

the first stage of the coilovers, the lower mounts to the axle are made

I love Tig welding in stupid positions <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

I think these are strong enough but we will find out in the races

Kim is back from his summer house, so if theres anything to answer in Finnish just ask

Why have you welded those like that? Does it make it stronger, or is there another plate on it what you have welded (which I dont see)

Repro - it's 2 pieces of steel welded together (4mm and 2mm), it's so the total plate is only "thick" in the places that see the highest amount of force (it saves a little weight if you build like this)

we use the electronic sender from a Discovery, it fits straight into the transfer box, calibrate the speedo to the amount of pulses and it works

you can get other pickups and make it work with almost anything - the cheapest way is to use a motorbike sprocket and machine this into the propshaft, then use the magnet sensor they supply

Thank you, I'll try that. I was thinking to use the mechanical cable drive, but I think there aint no M12 threads in my TH400 or the Quadra-trac transfercase...
