54mm Landcruiser Hub Socket.Anyone know where i could find a 54mm hub socket for the 1975-1997 Landcruiser front axle nuts? Am in Rovaniemi. Have tried Motonet and they do not have it. No idea where else to go look, am in a bit of trouble here since i have no running car until i can fix this(have the parts and all other tools i need, just need that damn socket!). Any info/help very much appreciated!

You can find it from Offroadtarvike (www.offroadtarvike.fi) at Juuka, just bought one for myself and it was 20 euros if i remember right. Haven't used it yet, but it seems pretty nice. 5mm wall thickness, so it should last for some time and it's made by Trail Gear
edit. I'm not sure if it's visible on their homepage, but I think you can contact them via e-mail

You can also use 55mm socket for ¾" drive. It doesn´t fit directly to inside of Toyota hub...... so it needs some machining from outside with lathe or axle grinder.

Thanks for the information guys, think i will go the Trail Gear/Offroadtarvike route as that seems the least hassle and straight forward thing to get.
Wondering is the 5mm thickness is still thin enough to fit into the hub, anyone know about that? |

Lainaus:
Stainless steel. 1,5mm thick.

Thanks, but since the link on there to nettivaraosa does not work and a search there gives up nothing i have mailed to Offroadtarvike.fi and will order one from them. 5mm thickness sounds MUCH better than 1,5mm |

Offroadtarvike.fi just let me know that they do not have this item in stock, but will have it within 1-2 weeks.
Price is 21 euro and they believe it to be identical to the specs of the Original Toyota tool. Impressive both and price and tool specs...just wish i was not in such a dire need for one! Need that damn car on the road(problem with using it both as a weekend warrior and daily driver). |

Use chisel and hammer to open and fit those hub nuts? And if you're afraid nuts are not tight enough (they will be), retorque after you get that tool.

Actually i read up on that process and it seems that doing so means that the nuts will be either too tight(causing the bearings to seize and last MUCH shorter time than they should) or they will be damaged from the screwdriver/chisel will cause it to not seal properly and possibly come loose(as the one that was on my Cruiser did and caused all that damage) it had the obvious marks of having been tightened with a chisel/screwdriver yet was not tight enough.
So i will rather wait until i get the tool i need and do it properly thanks. |
