joo, näin sanoo jeep performance handbook danan jakolaatikoista:
"Dana 18 Developed in 1940 by Spicer, this is the original Jeep T-case, and versions of it were manufactured until 1971. While they were designed for modest power, this cast-iron unit can take a fair bit of torque, especially the later versions. Because they are compact and have a decent 2.46:1 low range, they are still popular in buildups. They use an offset rear output position, so a rear differential with a right offset must be used.
The Model 18s can be divided into three general categories, small-shaft (3/4-inch diameter, used in World War II Jeeps with a 1.97:1 low range), mediumshaft (ll18-inch diameter, used from 1946 to 1953 and sometimes found later), and big-shaft (11/4-inch diameter, used in most 1953-71 Jeeps). The "shaft" refers to the intermediate gear shaft. The big shaft units are preferred because of the increased bearing surfaces. It's possible to remachine a small or medium case to accept a larger shaft, though the World War II era cases are weak in other areas and are best avoided for performance applications. Input shafts have either 6 or 10 splines.
Dana 20 Another great Spicer cast-iron 'case that first appeared in 1963 big Jeeps with manual trans only. In 1972, they replaced the Model 18 in Cls and C-1O1 and lasted there until 1979. They use a centered rear output and had a marginal 2.03:1 low range. The Model 20 was a variant of the Model 18, so it's possible to use the low range gearing from the older Ford Bronco Dana 20 to get a 2.46:1 low range (the parts are hard to get).
With a fair bit of machining, it's also possible to stuff Model 18 gears into the 20. This is another strong unit for its size and it uses a 1 lI4-inch intermediate gear shaft. Input shafts have either 6 or 10 splines.
Dana 21 A single speed iron unit that's not worth many words. It was used behind automatics in half-ton Gladiators and Wagoneers from 1963 to 1969. It was reliable and strong but useless for anything but mild off-roading.
Dana 300 This is another variant in the Model 18 and 20 family that was used from 1980 to 1986 Cls. It featured a great 2.67:1 low range and had a centered rear output.
It has proven every bit as durable as the other cast-iron units in this family. The Dana 300 is the most popular gear drive T-case for CJs and many are swapped into earlier and later model Cls and even the occasional YJ."
Toki jenkkien ajotouhu on erilaista kuin täällä, että ehkä nämä mielipiteet voi ottaa varauksella
