Stolen HJ61. Reward!

Hello.

My Landcruiser HJ61 VX `88 was stolen in Oslo, Norway last weekend.
The Police says the car MAY probably be on the way abroad. I hope finnish
offroaders can help me getting the car back if they spot the
landcruiser in Finland.

Jep,

There is a good chance to spot the car in Finland, assuming that it is on it's way to eastern Finland (read: Russia).

There really seems to be some kinda trend for 4x4 vehicles, you are not the only one that is missing his car on this forum.

Hope you get your car back.

I´ll keep my eyes open here in Vaasa too. Many Norwegians take the ferry from Umeå in Sweden to Vaasa here in Finland. Hope you´ll get your car back in one piece!

Southern finland is also being under surveillance. In finland we don't have many VX hj:s.

(onks muuten yhtään kuussarjalaista vx:ää?)

There are many ways of smuggling the car out of Norway. The police here say that one way goes from northern Norway and through Finland. Next destination would be Estonia. Then to Russia, other East European countries. The smugglers believe that going to border controls in nothern Norway is the best way to avoid authorities...

The police also talked about cars finding their way to Iraq!

Another way is through Sweden and by ferry to Estonia.

Have you guys had problems with cars going to Baltic countries?

KnutHJ61 05.10.2004 14:42

Nobody has neither seen my HJ61 since 17. of september here in Norway and I am likely to believe it has been taken out of the country. So be aware of this car in your neighbourhoud!
In worst case it has been taken to african countries or somewhere in baltic area, Russia or Jugoslavia. I have heard stories about the black car market in Montenegro. This is a "good" place for selling stolen cars.
This car can also be taken apart, then it is gone forever...

Her is another picture of the car:

I still look after it here in Porvoo.

Off-road is life!

KnutHJ61 23.12.2004 02:43

Hello again!

The car is still missing.

I am afraid it will never be found. So now I am looking for other landcruiser HJ61s. I see some models in Germany.
But how is it to find this model in Finland for sale?
Maybe you have some links to places where I can find some for sale?

Thank you all for your help and support in this matter!

To Repro:
Yes. Nice place where I took the pictures. I can highly recomend this place for nice walk in the montains or summerskiing!
The place is some kilometres from the Turtagø Hotel (http://www.turtagro.no/).
"Turtagrø Hotel is situated in Vestre Jotunheimen, in Luster kommune. It is close to*Sognefjorden.*The Rv 55 road runs by the Hotel. Communities nearby are Skjolden and Fortun*by Sognefjorden, and Øvre Årdal (35 km). Lom is 70 km away...

Oslo-Turtagrø:
When Øvre Årdal-Turtagrø is open (normally from the end of may), it is the shortest way by far - 321 km. You go via Fagernes - Tyin - Øvre Årdal.
Oslo-Turtagrø through Otta over Sognefjellet*is 430 km.
Oslo-Turtagrø*through Valdres over Valdresflya*is 396 km.
Oslo-Turtagrø through Sogndal over Hemsedalsfjellet*is 400 km.
Oslo-Turtagrø through Fagernes, Tyin, Øvre Årdal og Sogndal*is 428 km. The distance is the same if you go straight ahead in Tyinkrysset and go on to Lærdal.*"
