we make the panels for the other side, eventually if there is time I make sides to this and it looks like a wierd version of a landrover farmeri (I guess I dont spell that correctly? )
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-25.JPG

I want the petrol tank to fit tight to the bulkhead and be protected
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-25.JPG

a little cutting and making the fuel filler fit
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-26.JPG

making the sump clear the "A" frame for the back suspension - I use "in tank" fuel pumps, maybe this is a good idea or maybe not ?!?! we find out if they like Russian petrol soon anyway :)
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-26.JPG

it fits much better now

Mike made the bonnet - bits from an Evo 8 and some stuff we bent up, it only weighs a couple of Kg's
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-30.JPG

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-03-30.JPG

I make some plates
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-01.JPG

and some little bosses and weld them on
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-01.JPG

we make the front axle mounts
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-02.JPG

and the bulkhead for the cab (its not finished yet)
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-02.JPG

battery box... I will cut this and make it a little bit different, I think its a little bit too low
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-02.JPG

the first stage of the coilovers, the lower mounts to the axle are made
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-02.JPG

I love Tig welding in stupid positions
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...2007-04-01.JPG

Why have you welded those like that? Does it make it stronger, or is there another plate on it what you have welded (which I dont see)

dollythelw 29.03.2008 13:23

Repro - it's 2 pieces of steel welded together (4mm and 2mm), it's so the total plate is only "thick" in the places that see the highest amount of force (it saves a little weight if you build like this)

How are you gonna get the speedometer to work? I mean, by using the hall-sensor or cable drive or what?

we use the electronic sender from a Discovery, it fits straight into the transfer box, calibrate the speedo to the amount of pulses and it works :)

dollythelw 31.03.2008 16:37

you can get other pickups and make it work with almost anything - the cheapest way is to use a motorbike sprocket and machine this into the propshaft, then use the magnet sensor they supply

Thank you, I'll try that. I was thinking to use the mechanical cable drive, but I think there aint no M12 threads in my TH400 or the Quadra-trac transfercase...
