Taidettu suunnitella Calisotan auringon lämmössä. Renkaiden malli otettu yhestä American Bantamista.. Rekkari muistaakseni 313.
Ja kyllähän se toimii, vaikka on pikku ylitykset.
Taisivat itekin todeta, ettei pelitä:
"On the Ice
The Snow Cruiser failed to perform up to expectations. The tires sank deeply into the snow and spun too easily. In an attempt to improve the cruiser’s performance, the crew attached the two spare wheels and tires to the front front wheels, increasing the surface area of the tires by 50 percent. To improve traction, they installed chains on the smooth rear tires."
Oisivat tulleet Suomeen kokeilemaan..

The best thing that could be said about the immobile home was that it provided a nice shelter from the cold.
As it turned out, the greatest adventure turned out to be that trip from Chicago to Boston.
But even if the vehicle had worked according to plan, it wouldn't have mattered.
After the United States entered World War II, the polar expedition was scrapped. The crew returned home and the Antarctic Snow Cruiser was abandoned on the ice shelf.
The cruiser's whereabouts remain a mystery today.
It might be buried under ice and snow, waiting to be rediscovered by future explorers.
Or it could be resting at the bottom of the sea, a casualty of melting ice and a collapsed shelf.
Eli sinne hävis...
Kumma kun ei ole kukaan etsinyt ja löytänyt. Voi olla tosin tekemätön paikka, jos on pudonnut mereen.
Lisäys edelliseen:
quote: The Snow Cruiser was rediscovered during International Geophysical Year (1958-59) operations by the United States at the Bay of Whales, and records then recovered were sent to the US National Archives. It narrowly escaped when a portion of the ice shelf carrying IGY camps Little America IV and V broke off and drifted away shortly afterwards. Its departure occurred sometime in the 1960s, when another large portion broke away and drifted out to sea. Undoubtedly Dr Poulter's Snow Cruiser is now at the bottom of the Southern Ocean.
